WOODHOUSE ACTIVITY CENTRE
There is an air of excitement surrounding
Woodhouse. The Woodhouse 2020
committee is in full swing. The Western
ASU has been completely refurbished and
renamed “Gilwell Base Camp” Funds have
been committed for a similar treatment
of the Northern ASU. Time and money
has been applied to Challenge Hill and
is planned to continue. New activities are
being established including the already

embraced the vision of Woodhouse 2020
and is prosecuting an aggressive plan
to deliver new levels of service, capture
new markets and expand old ones
while pursuing a program of continuous
improvement on the property.
ON THE NATIONAL FRONT
The common and shared challenges of
WHS and Child Protection have been a
catalyst toward a level of cooperation and
shared purpose not previously seen around
the national table. The National Executive
Committee is keen to restructure to a far
more agile board of 12 members (down
from the current 25).
The Risk Management Committee (chaired
by our CEO) has a very full agenda. A new
National Brand and Marketing Committee
has been established and Branches have
agreed to jointly fund the development of
the new youth program. South Australia
has contributed heavily by developing the
new National Child Protection Policy and
the draft for a national WHS Framework.
THE YEAR AHEAD
We will continue to take calculated
risks to grow the Scout Association in

positioned us to export our intellectual
property to other Branches.
All of this growth is designed to ensure
that our membership grows and that our
Branch remains financially independent.
