SCOUTS SA ANNUAL REPORT 2016 Together, we can ensure Scouts continues to be seen as the youth organisation of choice within our State and is seen as a means to develop resilience, tenacity and wellbeing within our youth, allowing each to grow into successful and valuable contributors to their community and our nation. 6 Harry Long Chief Commissioner, Scouts SA each to their BC’s. Responsibility and accountability are key words during a period when our businesses are impacted by our national economy adjusting to changing world conditions. The Chief’s Council thank all our budget heads for their consideration to our business operations. Again, it has been a pleasure to work with our CEO, Dan Ryan, be included in the Branch Executive Committee, HERC and Branch strategic planning processes that ensure the growth, development, recognition and sustainability of our Branch. We once again thank our Chief Scout, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC, Governor of South Australia, for his active support of Scouts in South Australia and to each of our Patrons for their very valuable support and attendance at many of our Scouting events. relied upon to assist in their relevant portfolios of responsibility. Without this support my role and responsibilities would be impossible to fulfil. This past year I have also focussed on communication, the delivery of sometimes complex information in a manner that provides relevancy to each of us. I trust you have found me open and transparent with you in communicating Scouting initiatives that percolate from Branch and our National office. Metropolitan and country training courses, a multitude of events and celebrations, meetings — spontaneous and planned — provided me with an immensely enjoyable year that has evaporated before my eyes. I look forward to continuing this program with many of you throughout the coming year.
